Dear members,

This year, and especially this autumn has been exceptionally wet, with October being the 10th wettest on record at the time of writing. Please see images below from DMI/TV2 from Sunday 29th October:

Unfortunately, due to the excessive rainfall and its impact on the course, to protect the course from long term damage I have been forced to put into place the ban on trolleys and single seater buggies from midnight on Monday 30th October. This year the procedure for the trolley ban is slightly different, please see below information from the newsletter sent out by Simon’s Golf Club in the summer.

Members often request exemption to use trolleys in the winter, which was also strongly requested in our member survey. It has therefore been decided that anyone over the age of 65, as well as people with a medical certificate, can use their trolleys all year round. Happy news! However, it should be stated here that, should the weather make it necessary to protect the course, the exemption can be stopped from day to day. We still continue to encourage everyone who can, to use carry bags – regardless of age. We also ask that the age limit be respected! In order to protect green areas, ropes will be set up, which all members are asked to respect during the winter season.

Please note, with nearly 300 members over the age of 65, to help alleviate the weight of traffic on the course, I ask that those who are still able to, to please use carry bags whenever possible. If you qualify and should need to use a trolley during this period, wherever possible, please stay 5m away from greens and tees.

The Pro-Shop is responsible for trolley exemptions, please complete the form below and contact the Pro-Shop direct to be formally registered and issued with a special mark on the members tag if you have not already done so. Those members who qualify either through age or medical exemption, please ensure to check the splash on the home page on the day of play as to whether trolleys are going to be permitted on that day.

Kind regards

Reamonn O’Neill
