Dear members,
As of Monday 22nd June, construction work will begin on building a new green on C5, this is due to the original green, constructed 20 years ago, sinking towards the lake in front over time.
This is quite a complex task in the fact that the original green must be cut into slabs and removed from the green and stored on C4 where it will lay for a number of weeks until construction has reached a point where the green will be re-laid and grown back in.
During this period, predominantly for safety reasons, C4 & C5 will be closed for play. C Loop will play as a 7-hole course, C1 – C3, C6 – C9. The white tee on C6 will also be moved forward to the yellow/blue tee.
We have chosen to carry out this task at this time for many reasons, but mainly due to the fact it is the holiday month and also that hopefully it presents the best weather possible to enable a speedy grow in and recovery.
I will keep you posted as best I can during this period with picture and video updates.
My team will also be contributing time and labour to the reconstruction plus July and early August is also a period where members of my team take two weeks holiday. We will endeavour to present the course to the best of our ability but there may be a noticeable difference in some of the “attention to detail” tasks.
Rest assured everything should be dialled back in for the first week in August where we prepare for a fantastically active couple of months golfing.
Kind regards,
Reamonn O’Neill
Golf Course Superintendent
