As we are all aware A5 has been the biggest change to the A-Loop and also has required a different approach to how it has been grown in due to the mixture of rolled turf and large seeded areas. The goal has always been to open all areas as soon as possible while still protecting the areas from damage. A large seeded area differs from a large turfed area as it requires a lot more attention such as frequent light watering throughout the day and night and regular applications of fertiliser high in nitrogen, this accompanied by warm/hot weather conditions helps the plant to grow optimally.
A-Loop will open for play from Saturday 15th August, however, it will remain predominantly the 9 hole course as we continue to regularly water newly turfed and seeded areas. As the A–Loop turfed areas have had a longer time to grow in compared to C-Loop and B-Loop before opening the need for blue GUR areas will be greatly reduced. As it stands A5 seeded fairway will be the only area with blue sticks with green tops and roped off in white, this will mean play from this area will be prohibited, however, players will be able to enter the area to retrieve their balls. The white rope is to ensure no trolleys enter the area. Even though the turfed areas on the A-Loop will not be sprayed blue I still request that members do not push their trolleys over the new turf. The local rule for relief from turf seamed areas is still in place.
