Too big a mouthful

On Monday 29th May, our U22 team visited Hillerød. Hillerød is probably the best U22 team in Denmark with national player Morten Toft Hansen as captain and 3 other players who normally are part of Hillerød’s 1st division team. The handicap of the 4 players ranged from +3,7 to 0,2. If we wanted to bring anything home from this match there wasn’t going to be room for any bogey’s and if you wanted a to win the hole we would have to be prepared!

We did not have the pleasure of meeting Morten Toft Hansen, but met Jonas Lykke, Mikkel Bartholin and Nicolai Nøhr-Madsen.

Simon’s had the following players for the difficult away match: William Barnak, Casper Andersen and Christopher Dyrling. Rosa Barnak was our substitute player.

After hole 3 William was 1 down and the opponent unfortunately increased the lead over the next 3 holes. After hole 6 William was 3 down. William won holes 7 and 12 and was now only 1 down. On the next holes the Hillerød player changed up a gear and won the match 3/2.

Unfortunately, Casper never became part of the match. He was 1 down after 4 and 2 down after 6. This stayed until hole 9 and then, just like Williams opponent, Casper’s opponent finds another gear and won the match 5/4.

Christopher got a good start and won hole 1. They are all square after hole 3. Christopher wins hole 4 and 5 and hole 6 was a draw. After hole 9 Christopher was 2 up. He lost hole 10 and 11 and after hole 12 the match is all square. He then lost hole 13, wins hole 14, after hole 15 the match is a draw. Christopher lost hole 16, won hole 17 and hole 18 is a draw. Well done and a very exciting match.

All in all, an ok performance that everyone can be satisfied with after the initial disappointment.

We lost the match 5 – 1. We are ready for the next match against Hørsholm on their turf.

/P. Dyrling
